Rob Furness - Counsellor in Hove

Hi - I'm Rob. Thanks for visiting my website.

I offer supportive and empathic counselling for those facing distress or difficulties in their lives. At such times, it can feel safer to hide or try to manage on your own. But having a space to speak openly with someone outside your day-to-day can be life changing.

To inquire about a confidential session, you can contact me here.

About me

I’m a humanistic counsellor and registered member of the BACP. I work with private clients in Hove and for a charity called Lifecentre supporting victims of sexual violence/abuse. A big part of my work is with LGBTQ clients and I’ve worked at MindOut, a local LGBTQ charity.

I previously worked as a consultant in business, but by my 30s, I needed a change. I wanted to help others, and have a keen interest in what psychology, philosophy and neuroscience can tell us about the healing process. My training includes the postgraduate diploma in Humanistic Counselling & Psychotherapy at Brighton Uni.

Testimonials from counselling clients…

Anonymous client (female, 48)

"Finding your voice and speaking your truth is the single most powerful thing you can and will ever do. It took me over 35 years to find mine and Rob finally gave me the trusted safe space to do that"

Anonymous client (male, 40)

"I reached out to Rob because I was having some difficulties with work, and was getting close to quitting my job. I was quite nervous to try online therapy and wasn't even sure that talking about my problems would really help, but Rob was fantastic! He is really easy to talk to, calm, a great listener, and he made me feel completely at ease. Although I was the one talking most of the time, explaining and exploring my thoughts, Rob would ask questions or reformulate something I had said in a way that nudged me in the right direction, and I'd suddenly realise how one problem was connected to something else I'd talked about.

Knowing that I was going to speak with him each week was a comfort during the most stressful times, which alone would have been good value for me. But, more than that, I feel I've made real progress, and I've finished with a completely different mood and attitude than when I started. I'd highly recommend!"

“Working with Rob has been life changing. I've learned so much about myself and for the first time in my life, I feel like I’m going to be OK. I highly recommend Rob!”

Anonymous client (female, 53)

“When I was referred to see Rob I was very scared… of the process and what it would do to me. My worries were entirely unnecessary.

Rob is kind, empathetic and made me feel comfortable and relevant. The sessions had a core and clear intention, but were also organic.

He made me realise I did deserve to be helped and help me he did. I cannot recommend him highly enough.”
