Counsellor in Brighton & Hove

LGBTQ Counselling

So many LGBTQ people grew up feeling they had to hide parts of themselves. Hearing that you’re not acceptable as you are is hugely damaging to a person’s self-esteem and basic sense of safety and belonging. It’s no wonder there are higher incidences of mental health issues amongst LGBTQ people.

As a counsellor, I want you to feel that you can speak openly without worrying about censoring or being misunderstood. My approach is inclusive and affirming. All parts of your experience are welcome.

My background in LGBTQ counselling

Working with LGBTQ clients is a big part of my practice, and I used to work at MindOut, a local LGBTQ charity. I also have lived experience as part of the community, and have seen the belonging and celebration that is possible, as well as its darker side.

I particularly work with men who are gay, bi, pan or queer. I work with range of issues including addiction, drug problems, loneliness, HIV, relationship problems, chemsex, and the trials of modern dating.
