About counselling

What brings people to therapy?

It could be a major life event like a bereavement or breakup. Or you might notice difficult thoughts, feelings or behaviours playing on repeat. These can be distressing and confusing. Counselling can help you understand these patterns, which are often adaptations to past stresses or trauma - your psyches way of trying to cope.

My approach to therapy

Humanistic counselling is a collaborative approach which helps you address your difficulties within a supportive, empathic relationship. It seeks to foster new self-awareness and agency as we work together to build a picture of your difficulties.

I have an interest in relationships, and how past experiences, including in childhood, may relate to current challenges. I work with the whole person: mind, body and soul.

My approach is trauma-informed, which means I understand the latest neuroscience regarding the impact of trauma on mind and body, and know how to work safely with trauma.

How to get started…

It’s important to find the right therapist for you. I offer an initial session to explore working together. After that, if you’d like to proceed, we can make a regular weekly booking.
